The NZSCA Awards Dinner was held last night 21 May at the Distinction Hotel Te Rapa Hamilton attended by 270 devoted cheese attendees.
Curds & Whey have been sponsoring the Home Crafted Award for several years and are always delighted to encourage new cheesemakers who have the courage to enter their cheese to intense scrutiny by the skilled panel of judges and then go on to win Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards. So I congratulate all entrants and all winners – well done.
But there has to be one overall award winner and that is a hard task to satisfy. Each year someone special steps into the limelight and this year it is Jennifer Rodrige who made the award winning Belle Chevre Flat White. Jennifer is based in Waipu, North Island and when we have more details and a picture we will be delighted to post. We had to take the picture twice last as we both closed our eyes – not a good look!
Click the link below and you can read a little more about which individuals and companies excelled …. All forms of artisan cheese, butter and yoghurt making are reaching increasingly high standards and we are very proud to be part of the overall effort.
