New Zealand Cheese Awards Dinner and Award Presentation

The NZ Specialist Cheesemakers Association held the NZ Champions of Cheese Awards late last week at Wintec Technical College, Hamilton.  More than 250 guests celebrated what is an annual event that reflects a year or more of committed effort to cheesemaking.  In difficult financial times it is heartening to see the Cheesemakers Commitment and their willingness to undertake the affinage aspect of ripening cheese to arrive at the correct taste and texture prior to offering to the general public.

Have a look at some of the merry crowd who contribute to this very successful event

Curds & Whey have sponsored for many years the Amateur Cheese Award which has been won by committed home cheesemakers, small artisan cheesemakers and more recently by the Science Students under the capable supervision of Dr Anthony Rogers, Head of Chemistry, St Peter’s College Epsom Auckland.

The Team at St Stephen’s won our Award for their Baby Blue and we can vouch for its high quality and subtle taste.  So let’s give them a cheer and once over their Exams I hope to have more to say about Science at St Stephens!
